Cocoa Senior Journalists (Aged 9 to 13 years)

These four young girls (Adanya, Faith, Sham and Nasare) worked to produce articles for the children's magazine Cocoa Girl. They share with the young readers information on people, history, events etc. They have developed skills and learnt how to share their knowledge on paper over the last 18 months. They are an example to other young would-be reporters and have really passed on a lot of knowledge to their readers. I think they make a great junior journalist team.

Each girl is a strong person in her own right, having achieved many goals and awards individually. Faith is the current Young Mayor of Kidzania, Sham just won a Lion Award, Adanya runs her own successful black British focused stickers company and Nasare continues to develop her writing skills and runs her own inspirational Instagram page.

The girls have each written a number of articles and/or held interviews with famous people for Cocoa Girl magazine.Their work collectively stands out as there are not many young people holding the roles that they do. They are sharing information on black British content that is inspirational and can be life changing to the young readers as they are seeing what they can achieve too.

While each girl is writing their article independently, collectively they go into Cocoa Girl Magazine to show what historical and current black Britons have/are doing. They have also met up to have experiences which they then review.

Each girl is a mini powerhouse in her own right, but what they're doing collectively is reaching young hearts, minds and spirits far and wide.
